URBAN KATTE

reimagining indian street furniture
In today’s atomizing, fast-paced society, Bengaluru seems to be forgetting the simple act of slowing down. As we continue to build relentlessly, shrinking open spaces, the very idea of urban furniture, and the culture of shared outdoor life it once supported, has all but disappeared.  This design seeks to rekindle the collective joy and spontaneity of childhood, evoking memories of playgrounds and words like ‘see-saw’, ‘merry-go-round’, and ‘hopscotch’. The proposal reimagines urban furniture as playful, adaptable installations that invite participation. The modular elements encourage users to engage in the act of creation, configuring pieces to suit different needs and settings. Each arrangement transforms the space, infusing it with liveliness, nostalgia, and a renewed sense of community.
